Several areas in Lisbon and the Algarve will experience temporary power cuts on Sunday December 28 due to scheduled maintenance work on the electricity distribution network, according to E-Redes.

The company said the interruptions are part of routine operations aimed at improving service reliability and ensuring the safety of the network. These works are planned in advance and are expected to affect electricity supply only for limited periods during the day.

In Lisbon, selected neighbourhoods will see brief outages while technicians carry out upgrades and inspections on local infrastructure. E-Redes advised residents and businesses in affected areas to prepare in advance, particularly those who rely on electrical equipment for work or medical needs.

Parts of the Algarve will also be impacted, with power being temporarily cut in specific towns and rural locations. The company said maintenance work in the region is essential to support increased demand and to reduce the risk of unplanned outages in the future.

E-Redes stressed that every effort will be made to restore power as quickly as possible once work is completed. Customers are encouraged to unplug sensitive electronic devices during the outage period and to reset clocks and appliances once electricity is restored.

Residents can check detailed information about exact locations and expected timings through E-Redes’ official channels, where updates are provided regularly. The company apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their understanding.
